February, 2023
Hawbooldt Industries provided two LS-24 light-weight aluminum winches for the R/V Shackleford research and hydrographic survey vessel designed and built by All American Marine for NV5-Geodynamics LLC. The R/V Shackleford is a 73’ x 26.7’ semi-displacement aluminum catamaran hull that was developed by Nic de Waal of Teknicraft Design in Auckland, New Zealand.
This vessel will serve an integral role in NV5-Geodynamics’ mission of providing turnkey / “single pass” offshore surveys and has been specifically customized to serve the burgeoning offshore wind sector on the US Eastern Seaboard.
The winches are designed for use with .322” EM cable suitable for a small CTD Rosette or tow body. Winch footprint is based on 2’x2’ UNOLS Standard deck socket pattern.
The winches each have a capacity of 400m (1333ft) of 0.322” diameter EM cable, a Planetary gearbox drive with plug-in hydraulic motor and integral failsafe disk brake.
