Did Somebody Say Shock Test?

Last month we shared a post where the highlights included Hawboldt were in the process of delivering a large crane order for the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) Halifax Class Frigates. The cranes - which weigh approximately 9,000 kg (20,000 lbs) - successfully passed both MIL-spec floating barge Heavy-Shock Testing, and Lloyd’s Register Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to date. The shock tests assured crane operation even after significant damage to the ship. This is determined through performing a shock test on the first crane in accordance with Test Criteria for Shock Resistant Equipment in Naval Ships standards.
